This may be the only F-250 in America currently protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act
Olathe, Kan.—One of Olathe Ford Lincoln’s team members recently noticed something unexpected on a sold F-250 —a mother robin building a nest right on the truck’s tire.
The Kansas dealership stated in a Facebook post that over the next few days she laid four blue eggs, and on May 14, those eggs officially hatched. The proud parents at the time kept a close eye on their hatchlings as they began their journey toward taking flight.
Because robins and their active nests are federally protected, Olathe Ford Lincoln stated they legally could not relocate the nest at that stage. “Truthfully,” the dealership wrote, “our team has become a little too invested in these babies to rush them out now.”
To complicate the matter, the truck was actually sold. “We want to give a huge THANK YOU to our incredibly kind and understanding customers,” the post read, “who have been so patient and thoughtful while we wait for these little ones to grow up and leave the nest safely.”
Olathe Ford Lincoln sent thanks to Operation Wildlife, the largest publicly funded wildlife rehabilitation facility in Kansas.
