Large-scale community event provides vehicle repairs to needy residents

Aftermarket community, volunteers and local officials partner to repair 38 vehicles for LA individuals and families experiencing hardship

Torrance, Calif.—CarParts.com, Inc. joined forces with Safe Parking LA to host Fix-It Day 2025, a large-scale community event dedicated to providing essential vehicle repairs for individuals and families experiencing hardship.

Held at two locations — the Petersen Automotive Museum and Chris’ Auto Service in Los Angeles — the March 2 event brought together industry leaders, volunteers, and local officials to ensure 38 vehicles received critical repairs, keeping participants safely on the road.

“With our headquarters just miles from the recent Los Angeles fires, we’ve seen firsthand how important reliable transportation is,” said Stephanie Urbach, Chief Human Resources Officer at CarParts.com. “CarParts.com is not just a company — it’s a community that cares, and Fix-It Day is our way of stepping up, living our Core Values, and making a real difference in the community.”

For many, a working vehicle is more than just transportation, it’s a lifeline to employment, education, and essential services. Fix-It Day provided brake replacements, battery changes, oil changes, and other repairs, with over 250 parts donated by CarParts.com and its partners.

Among those who took part in the day was Safe Parking LA graduate and board member Mello Shorter who reflected on the event’s impact.

“Maintaining a vehicle isn’t cheap, and for many of us, it’s one of the biggest challenges we face. Having a resource like Fix-It Day lifts some of that weight — it’s one less thing to worry about, so we can focus on getting where we need to go.

“It’s incredibly encouraging, not just for the participants, but for all of us as a community. When you’re in a tough spot, it’s easy to feel stuck, but events like this remind us that we’re not alone. We have support, we’re taking it day by day, and we’re still moving forward.”

Industry partners played a vital role in making Fix-It Day possible. JC Whitney provided essential tool, including dollies, jack stands, and other equipment, that allowed technicians to access and repair vehicles on-site.

LIQUI MOLY supplied motor oils and additives, while Bosch contributed wiper blades and other critical components. Wrench dispatched certified technicians, and The Lime Truck served meals to participants, volunteers, and techs throughout the day.

The day was made possible by Pacific Nexus. As part of the event, participants received complimentary access to the Petersen Automotive Museum while their vehicles underwent repairs.

Beyond the repairs, participants were provided with complimentary CarParts+ Memberships, granting them exclusive discounts and roadside assistance to help maintain their vehicles long after the event. Additionally, each participant received custom-curated care packages, including jumper cables, car accessories, and other essential car maintenance items.

The event also received official recognition from Los Angeles Council District 5, with representatives from Councilwoman Katy Yaroslavsky’s office, including Thao Tran and Matthew Tenchavez, presenting Certificates of Recognition to CarParts.com and its partners for their commitment to serving the community.
