Plasnomic brings together the collision repair industry to support viable repair-first solutions and end-of-life plastic recovery and recycling initiatives
Dallas, Texas—Plasnomic has announced that Tom Bergeron, Manager of State Farm’s Vehicle Research Facility, has joined the Plasnomic Plastic Repair Alliance Council.
“Tom brings extensive technical knowledge and an important insurer perspective to the Council,” said Mario Dimovski, President of Plasnomic and Head of the Plastic Repair Alliance Council. “His practical experience in plastic repair research, OEM processes and training will add real value to our work.”
Plasnomic brings together insurers, collision repairers, OEMs, researchers, training organizations and suppliers to align industry thinking around safe, documented and economically viable repair-first solutions, as well as end-of-life plastic recovery and recycling initiatives.
Acting as a neutral industry connector, Plasnomic is working to establish a new benchmark for plastic repair, helping collision repair facilities understand, identify and secure more repair opportunities while delivering stronger operational, financial and sustainability outcomes across the industry.
Bergeron was born into the automotive industry, with his grandfather, father and uncles owning dealerships across the Midwest. Before joining State Farm, he served in the U.S. Navy as an Anti-Submarine Warfare Operator, flying aboard helicopters.
As a founding team member of State Farm’s Vehicle Research Facility, Bergeron’s early work included evaluating plastic repair products to verify their performance on bumper covers. During his more than 30-year career, he has worked with OEMs to develop and refine repair processes and has built extensive knowledge in plastic, composite and carbon-fiber repair, structural repair, refinishing, aluminum welding and glass repair.
Bergeron’s appointment further strengthens the Council’s insurer representation, which now includes expertise from State Farm, GEICO and Allstate, three of the largest automotive insurers in the United States, as well as Intact Insurance in Canada and Allianz, the largest European insurance group.
