Denver—Since the pandemic struck, many government employees were working remotely, which slowed the pace of investigations. All investigators are directed into the field to conduct Covid-related inspections of dealerships over the holiday weekend, according to an email from the Colorado Automobile Dealers Association (CADA) on Wednesday afternoon.
The following notification, in verbatim, was sent to CADA from the Colorado Department of Revenue — Auto Industry Division (bolded portions were made by the state):
“As we approach the July 4th holiday and many Coloradoans look for ways to celebrate, we want to remind licensees of the importance of following and adhering to state and local guidelines regarding the health and safety practices to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Recent data has pointed to a possible second wave of coronavirus infections, and Governor Jared Polis has stressed the importance of continuing to adhere to current guidelines to protect Colorado from additional outbreaks.
All licensees are required to follow state and local guidelines, including limiting capacity, following social distancing and mask-wearing, and as the regulatory agency, allDOR investigators will be in the field this week conducting inspections and checks to ensure compliance. Any licensee found to be out of accordance with COVID-19 guidelines, executive orders, or public health orders could face significant fines, penalties, or administrative actions based on activities found by investigators. During the Independence Day holiday weekend, CDOR and state enforcement officers will conduct spot compliance checks to review for observance of all guidelines, rules, and regulations.
If you are witness to a violation, we expect that you contact the appropriate regulatory division to report the business and violation. The DOR seeks to help Colorado businesses grow responsibly, which requires collaboration with the business community to ensure everyone is safe and no outbreaks occur.
