The polarizing design and premium pricing initially captured attention, but competition and macroeconomic headwinds make it difficult to maintain sales levels
London—Tesla has sold over 16,000 Cybertrucks so far in 2025, averaging around 59 vehicles per day across the first three quarters, according to new figures analyzed by Finbold research.
Yet despite the milestone, sales have dropped sharply from last year, highlighting waning momentum for Tesla’s most unconventional model.
“Tesla’s Cybertruck was never expected to rival the Model Y in terms of volume, but the sharp year-over-year decline reveals the challenges of sustaining momentum in the electric pickup segment,” Finbold Senior Analyst Jordan Major said. “The vehicle’s polarizing design and premium pricing initially captured attention, but competition and macroeconomic headwinds are making it difficult to maintain sales levels.”

The Cybertruck, which began deliveries in late 2023, recorded its strongest performance in Q1 2025 with 6,406 units sold. Sales fell to 4,306 in Q2, down more than 50% year-over-year, before rebounding slightly in Q3 with 5,385 units delivered.
Even so, the latest quarterly figure was still 62.6% lower than the 14,416 sold in Q3 2024. Overall, Tesla has sold 16,097 Cybertrucks in the first nine months of 2025, a 38% decline compared with the same period last year.
Within Tesla’s wider portfolio, the Cybertruck remains a niche contributor. The Model Y leads with 265,068 units year-to-date, followed by the Model 3 at 155,180, while the Model S and Model X accounted for 4,509 and 10,306 sales, respectively.
