Free ASE technician webinar: ‘Diagnosing a No-Start Toyota Hybrid’

Presentation will discuss methods which can be used to determine, with limited crank attempts, what may be wrong with the engine

Leesburg, Va.—The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) is hosting a free webinar for service technicians on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 4:00 p.m., ET entitled “Diagnosing a No-Start Toyota Hybrid.”

In this webinar, John Thornton with Autotrain and Automotive Seminars will discuss methods which can be used to determine, with limited crank attempts, what may be wrong with the engine.

The capacity of the high-voltage battery determines how many “engine cranks” are available during a no-start. Every crank reduces the high-voltage battery’s state of charge. Each crank must be done strategically. The goal of the webinar is to determine what is preventing the engine from starting without completely discharging the high voltage battery.

In this webinar, topics to be covered include:

  • Freeze frame analysis
  • Scan data interpretation
  • Outputs that can be scoped with the ignition on
  • Outputs that must be scoped during the crank

Participants in this webinar will receive a certificate of attendance at the live session. Allow one week for automatic email delivery of the certificate.

After registering, a confirmation email will be sent containing information about joining the webinar. Those who are not sure if they can attend are encouraged to register as they will receive a follow-up email with details on how to attend a recorded session, if available.
