New hand-held inspection light identifies paint defects and swirls

MT103 Sunlight 3+ can be used throughout the repair process, from estimator to detailer

Irvine, Calif.—Shops can use the new MT103 Sunlight 3+ hand-held paint inspection throughout the repair process, from the estimator to painter and detailer, according to Meguair’s, which developed the tool in partnership with Scangrip.

“By offering stepless ‘dimmer-like’ adjustments for both kelvin and lumens, it helps estimators evaluate the finish to be more accurate, assists painters when color matching and spotting blends, and gives detailers the visual ability to remove sanding marks or fine swirls,” company representatives said.

The Sunlight 3+ builds on the hand-held light from Scangrip, adding to it an aluminum-alloy frame and additional controls to identify difficult-to-spot defects. It includes separate linear controls for both lumens and color temperature, 50 to 500 Lumens output range, 2,500 to 6,500 Kelvin range, and also features a settings memory function for instant on/off without searching for settings, according to Meguair’s.
