“If we don’t have access to the tools we need to plug into the computer, there’s a lot of time, a lot of money, a lot of resources being wasted,” says co-owner
Albuquerque, N.M.—In a new video from The CAR Coalition, Dustin and Nolan Brown, owners of Brown’s Automotive Experts in Albuquerque, New Mexico, highlight what the bipartisan REPAIR Act (H.R. 1566/S. 1379) means for them.
“Simple repairs such as doing brakes, or even changing tires, now require access to the computer,” said Dustin Brown. “If we don’t have access to the tools we need to plug into the computer, [there’s] a lot of time, a lot of money, a lot of resources being wasted.”
He said he understands the strain these restrictions put on members of his community. “Consumers can’t wait weeks or months to get their cars fixed.”
A family-owned small business, the Browns’ shop has nearly 50 employees who service more than 1,000 vehicles a month.
“The REPAIR Act is critical to allow us to be able to fix cars right, the first time, and in a timely manner,” Dustin added, and his brother Nolan agreed, “Congress needs to act NOW.”
