Mitchell 1 launches active recalls feature for all makes

Shops using Manager SE will receive automatic notifications concerning outstanding safety recall actions that need to be performed

San Diego—Mitchell 1 has announced a first-to-market solution that provides active recall notification capability for most vehicle makes.

This solution builds on its exclusive active recall feature within its Manager SE shop management software that was limited to few automotive brands. Now, shops using Manager SE will receive automatic notifications concerning outstanding safety recall actions that need to be performed on most vehicles sold in the United States.

“While we’ve had the active recall feature in place for a while covering a few makes such as Stellantis, Toyota and Mazda, the overwhelming response and demand for more coverage was so great that we expanded the service,” said Ben Johnson, director of product management for Mitchell 1.

“The enhanced active recalls feature is another way we are helping our customers care for their customers, who view repair shops as trusted partners in keeping their vehicles maintained,” Johnson added. “Many shops will facilitate the recall work while the vehicles are in their care, so customers do not have to make a separate visit to the dealership.”

Vehicle recalls are typically issued when a vehicle or equipment on the vehicle has a safety defect or fails to meet the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard. Standards are set for all safety-related components including headlights, brakes and wheels to ensure a vehicle meets minimum performance standards. Safety features that protect vehicle occupants such as ADAS, seat belts and airbags are also strictly regulated.
