The three-shop acquisition in Michigan is CollisionRight’s 41st, expanding its footprint of corporate-owned, locally-branded shops to 100 locations
Lansing, Mich.—Tripps Collision Centers has sold it business and three locations in central Michigan to CollisionRight, a regional consolidator. Tripps Collision Centers with shops in Lansing, East Lansing, and Jackson was founded in 1988 by Phil and Barb Tripp.
“I built my business in this community over many years and learned how to grow and operate with excellence,” said Phil Tripp, who began in the industry with a part-time job and has grown his business into a multimillion-dollar, award-winning enterprise that now spans three generations.
The acquisition represents the 100th shop for CollisionRight and now places it as the sixth largest MSO in the U.S. The milestone was reached within four years of the company’s founding, culminating in the rapid implementation of its initial market-entry campaign and setting the stage for an equally aggressive growth strategy that aims to increase CollisionRight’s footprint threefold over a five-year span.
As with each of CollisionRight’s 41 acquisitions to date, Tripp’s will continue to do business under its local brand while benefiting from the support and efficiency of a unified, large-scale organization. All of CollisionRight’s locations are corporate-owned and run under a common operating system of management, technology, back-office support, and partnerships with insurance carriers and vendors.
Chris Lane, partner at Focus Advisors who led the transaction said, “It’s always fulfilling to help a family like the Tripps’ achieve a successful exit. Phil, Barb, and their children have been deeply committed to their community, and the younger generation will continue to contribute now through CollisionRight.
