A name change will not disrupt how the store does business and brothers Joe and Jeff Bauman will remain on-site to continue to manage the store
Chesaning, Mich.—Auto-Wares Group of Companies announced on Tuesday that it has joined forces with Bauman Brothers Auto Parts of Chesaning, Mich., which took on the Auto Value name, changing to Bauman Brothers Auto Value. The name change will not disrupt how the store does business and brothers Joe and Jeff Bauman will remain on-site and continue to manage the store.
With the two companies together, additional inventory will be added — Michigan-based Auto-Wares has been the primary supplier of Bauman Brothers for many years.
A business with wide family roots
Bauman Brothers began in 1983 as Layton Corners Auto Parts in Chesaning, Mich., and was started by three families of husbands and wives. Joe Baumans’s uncles and aunts ran the business. For 15 years, the women ran the day-to-day operations as the men all had full-time day jobs. In 1992, Jeff and Joe began working for their family business at a time when the store had minimal inventory and just enough sales to keep it going, they said.
It only took 6 years of the brothers working for their aunts and uncles before they bought the business from them in 1998. The brothers focused on expanding the business and growing their inventory, and when they ran out of room in their existing building they built a new building across the road. In 2021 the brothers added mezzanine shelving as they were once again running out of inventory space.
