Tool allows techs to produce detailed, multi-point vehicle inspections with advanced functionality to share with customers
Toronto—Protractor, a cloud-based shop management solution for auto repair shops and tire stores, has announced its new web-based digital vehicle inspection (DVI) tool and VIN scanner, both accessible on-the-go from a companion web app across all mobile devices.
Making its debut at the AAPEX and SEMA aftermarket shows next week, Protractor’s DVI tool allows technicians to produce detailed, multi-point vehicle inspections with advanced functionality—including images, video, and descriptions—and then easily share the results with customers.
“Today’s auto shop needs every advantage to succeed, and that starts with efficiency-boosting tech tools such as Protractor DVI,” said Cavan Robinson, General Manager of Protractor. “This powerful feature will help shops create a thoughtful customer experience that will save time and ultimately increase the average repair order.”
Features and benefits of Protractor DVI include:
- Consistent, clear inspection reports complete with images and video
- Increased speed and efficiency.
- Easy-to-use, color-coded templates with mileage and VIN updatable from the inspection screen.
- Elimination of expensive integrations, multiple vendor logins, and extra fees.
New VIN scanner
Additionally, Protractor’s new VIN scanner helps busy shops efficiently capture a vehicle’s information for automatic entry into the work order using the mobile app, allowing on-the-go flexibility and removing the possibility of human input error. The enhanced scanner tool includes functionality for 2D and OCR for vehicles without QR code capabilities.
Robinson added, “We know that drivers appreciate the convenience and control of reviewing repairs digitally and on their own schedule. Similarly, technicians save time by doing everything needed from right inside the service bay without having to juggle multiple tech tools. We’re proud to offer these best-in-class features within Protractor as part of our commitment to empowering the auto aftermarket business.”
