Fix-It Day will serve 38 pre-selected families, many of whom have faced recent hardships, including displacement from wildfires

Torrance, Calif.—CarParts.com, Inc. is launching Fix-It Day 2025, a community-driven initiative providing free car repairs to struggling individuals and families. In partnership with Safe Parking LA, Petersen Automotive Museum, and a coalition of businesses and volunteers, the event will take place on Sunday, March 2, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Los Angeles.
Fix-It Day will serve 38 pre-selected families, many of whom have faced recent hardships, including displacement from the Los Angeles wildfires. Technicians will provide brake replacements, battery changes, oil changes, and other essential services free of charge.
“Ensuring driver safety is at the heart of everything we do at CarParts.com, and we believe that every driver deserves to feel secure behind the wheel — especially those facing the toughest challenges,” said Christina Thelin, Chief Marketing Officer of CarParts.com. “Fix-It Day is about more than just fixing cars. It’s about showing up for our neighbors and giving them the support they need to keep going. And that’s what Fix-It Day is all about—making a real difference, one journey at a time.”
Many struggling families are forced to choose between fixing their vehicles or paying for rent, food, or medical expenses. Safe Parking LA, a non-profit dedicated to supporting individuals living in their cars, has helped identify participants in the greatest need.
“For many of our participants, a working car is the difference between keeping a job or losing it, taking their children to school or missing another day, making it to a medical appointment or letting their health suffer,” said Matthew Tecle, Executive Director at Safe Parking LA. “Thanks to CarParts.com and its incredible partners, we are lifting a heavy burden off the shoulders of those who are already carrying so much. Acts of generosity like this don’t just fix cars — they restore dignity, hope, and the belief that a better future is possible.”
The Petersen Automotive Museum, an institution dedicated to exploring the automobile’s impact on global life and culture, will provide the event venue, staffing assistance and logistical support.
“In a city where having a car is almost essential to daily life, we recognize the importance of dependable transportation, especially for those impacted by the recent Southern California wildfires and other hardships,” said Executive Director Terry L. Karges. “We’re honored to help ensure that those facing financial hardship can continue to rely on their vehicles for work, school, and everything in between.”
Additional contributing partners contributing include Wrench which is dispatching certified technicians for on-site repairs, with JC Whitney donating essential tools for the repair teams. LIQUI MOLY is supplying premium motor oils and additives, and Bosch is contributing critical components to ensure long-term vehicle reliability.
The Lime Truck will provide fresh, complimentary meals throughout the event for families, volunteers, and technicians. Pacific Nexus, a partner for leading brands worldwide, conceived the event and is spearheading event execution to deliver value to all the participants and stakeholders.
Beyond the repairs, CarParts.com is ensuring ongoing support by providing all participants with complimentary CarParts+ Memberships, giving them access to exclusive discounts, priority service, and additional auto care resources. For more details on the CarParts+ Membership, click here.
