NHTSA launches new website feature for critical safety recalls

New tool quickly identifies vehicles that have an urgent safety recall where the vehicle should not be driven or parked inside until fixed

Washington, D.C.—The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is providing a new tool to quickly identify vehicles that have an urgent safety recall where the vehicle should not be driven or parked inside until fixed.

A vehicle can be searched on NHTSA.gov/Recalls where a red box will display at the top of the page if a vehicle has an open “do not drive” or a fire risk recall.

NHTSA is adding this feature to alert of the urgency of these recalls, including taking preventative actions until the recall repair is completed.

Visit NHTSA.gov/Recalls and enter a VIN number.
