Program prepares students through classroom and hands-on training in engine repair, vehicular inspection, diagnostic procedures, transmission repair and more
Arlington, Texas—Ancora Education, a workforce training and solutions provider, has announced its South Texas Vocational Technical Institute (STVT) campus in Arlington, Texas, is adding to its skilled trades offerings with the launch of an Automotive Service Technician (AST) program on March 16.

STVT’s Automotive Service program prepares students for an entry-level position as an automotive service technician through classroom and hands-on training in engine repair, vehicular inspection, diagnostic procedures, preventative maintenance services, transmission repair, basic electric and more.
Students will prepare to sit for the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) exams and EPA 609 A/C Technician certification by graduation.
About 70,000 national openings for automotive service technicians and mechanics are projected each year, on average, over the decade, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Graduates of the AST program may seek entry-level employment as automotive service mechanics or technicians, oil change technicians, or A/C technicians.
