Free ASE webinar: ‘Ignition Coil-On-Plug (COP) Diagnostics and Tips’

Best practices that streamline the ignition coil-on-plug diagnostic process through “real-world” scan tool data and heavy scope waveform patterns will be discussed

Leesburg, Va.—The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) is hosting a free webinar for service technicians on Tuesday, March 12, at 4:00 p.m. ET entitled “Ignition Coil-On-Plug (COP) Diagnostics and Tips.”

In this webinar, Philip Austin with Niterra (formerly NGK Spark Plugs) will discuss best practices that streamline the ignition coil-on-plug diagnostic process through “real-world” scan tool data and heavy scope waveform patterns. Prior use and understanding of basic scope patterns and operation is advised. However, with proper notetaking, new scope users can find this webinar beneficial.

Webinar topics include:

  • In-depth review of coil-on-plug (COP) operation and two types of COP coil designs
  • Spark testers: Is secondary voltage testing worth the effort on COP?
  • Understanding powertrain control module (PCM) logic in controlling various COP systems
