The former president and CEO of the Auto Care Association is also supporting the UAF 40th Anniversary campaign as a Premier Ruby Celebration Host
Bethesda, Md.—Kathleen Schmatz, MAAP, has increased her support of the University of the Aftermarket Foundation (UAF), reaching the Gold Lifetime Trustee level.
The Gold Lifetime Trustee designation is reserved for outstanding donors who have expanded their support of the University of the Aftermarket Foundation and its mission. In addition to attaining this elite donor status, Schmatz is also supporting the UAF 40th Anniversary campaign as a Premier Ruby Celebration Host and the UAF Coffee Club as a Master Barista.
“I work to contribute to the University of the Aftermarket Foundation for many reasons,” said Schmatz. “Foremost, it’s rewarding to give back to the dynamic industry that gave me so much. Secondly, contributions to UAF help assure the future of the aftermarket through education and the development of qualified technicians and other industry professionals. And, finally, because supporters of UAF are great company!”
Schmatz began her aftermarket career at Babcox Media in 1972 after graduating from Kent State University. While at Babcox Media, she held roles of increasing responsibility and earned a master’s degree from the University of Akron before being named the company’s vice president, publisher.
In 2001, Schmatz was named president and CEO of the Auto Care Association (formerly Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association), a role she held for 15 years before retiring in 2015. Since then, Schmatz has continued to support education, including serving as trustee of the Atrium School and trustee of the University of the Aftermarket Foundation.
“Cheers to Kathleen for leveling up her support of UAF to the Gold Lifetime Trustee level, as well as generously supporting the UAF Coffee Club and 40th Ruby Anniversary campaign,” said Roger McCollum, MAAP, UAF chairman.
He continued, “Throughout her career, Kathleen was a champion of the aftermarket, leading the industry into the future in many critical areas, including education. By personally investing in the next generation, she continues to build on that legacy, paving the way for others to pursue careers in the industry she loves.”
