AutoTuner Tool lets tuners unlock systems at their own facilities without shipping ECUs across the country
Auburn, Ala.—AutoTuner USA, a provider of universal engine and transmission programming solutions, has announced new in-shop ECU unlock capabilities through its AutoTuner Tool. The new unlocks include a variety of BMW, Mini and Toyota models equipped with BMW’s DME8 engine-control platforms.
Due to this new compatibility, tuners can now unlock systems at their own facilities without shipping ECUs across the country. Like all AutoTuner USA products, these new unlocks are included with the AutoTuner Tool at no additional cost, with no subscription or per-unlock fees.
The newest unlocks available through the AutoTuner Tool cover BMW M2, M3, M4, X3 M and X4 M models with the S58 3.0T, BMW B58-powered 3.0T models, Mini and Toyota Supra models, and additional applications using BMW B46/B48 2.0T, B58/S58 3.0T, N63/S63 4.4T and N74 6.75L engines.
AutoTuner was among the first companies to offer an unlocking solution for these BMW platforms, which introduced Bosch’s new MG1 ECU architecture. After BMW and Bosch introduced updated protections, options became limited across the tuning industry.
AutoTuner responded by continuing to expand its unlocking capabilities and establishing fast, affordable mail-in service centers in Europe and the USA. Now, with this latest update, any shop or tuner equipped with an AutoTuner Tool can unlock and service supported BMW DMEs in-house, right on the spot.
“Our team uses the AutoTuner Tool regularly and we have distributed well over 100 AutoTuner units to our dealers for installing our software,” said Steve Dinan, CEO and founder of CarBahn. “We picked the AutoTuner platform because of its ease of use, quality and security. Thanks to these new DME8 unlocks, our dealers can improve convenience for our customers by eliminating wait time and the need to ship ECUs.”
“The BMW tuning community has been profoundly resilient given the challenges the platform has faced,” said Arin Ahnell, CEO of AutoTuner USA. “With this free update, any shop or tuner in the world with an AutoTuner Tool can unlock and tune some of the most popular new BMW models right in their shop. Best of all for tuners, there’s no additional fee to perform these unlocks, and they are not locked into any specific tuning ecosystem, giving them the freedom to work the way they want and allowing the BMW tuning market to flourish even further.”
In addition to the AutoTuner Tool system, AutoTuner offers a variety of options to give shops more choices to meet their needs. For those tuning a wider variety of models, the AutoTuner Tool can read, write and unlock modern ECUs and TCUs via OBD, Bench and Boot processes.
For those looking for an easy OBD flashing solution for remote customers, the AutoTuner One offers a simple plug-and-play platform that lets customers install their tunes directly from a smartphone. AutoTuner USA also offers mail-in services for highly encrypted systems with most turnaround times under 48 hours door-to-door.
Across AutoTuner’s product lineup, there are no recurring subscription fees, giving tuners and shops continued access to AutoTuner software, updates and expanded vehicle coverage for the life of the product.
