A lifelong auto mechanic, he spent 35 plus years as an automotive instructor at Santa Rosa Junior College, where he championed trade education

Born December 8, 1948, in Minneapolis, Clifford W. Norton Jr. was raised there before bringing his family to California in 1983. He passed peacefully at home on Jan. 6, 2026, after a fight with cancer, according to his obituary.

A lifelong auto mechanic, he spent 35 plus years as an automotive instructor at Santa Rosa Junior College, where he championed trade education and mentored generations of students. He also gave generously of his time mentoring others through local recovery and peer-support programs.

A lifelong learner, he read daily and was endlessly curious about how things worked: machines, systems and people alike.

Cliff was a loving husband to his wife, Lisa, for 52 years and a devoted father to his two children Dorothy (Dot) & Clifford (Chip). A proud military veteran, he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a wheel vehicle mechanic.
