Gary Schroeder takes a step toward continued leadership within the association as secretary and is in position for TIA president, 2027-2028
Bowie, Md.—During its recent mid-year board meeting, the Tire Industry Association (TIA) voted to elevate a current board member to its executive committee. Gary Schroeder of Bob Sumerel Tire Co. was elected to serve as secretary, taking a step in his continued leadership within the association.
An active member of the TIA Board since 2021, Schroeder will officially begin his term on Nov. 3, during the board of directors meeting in Las Vegas ahead of the 2025 Global Tire Expo/SEMA Show.
His election to secretary also positions him in the TIA officer rotation, placing him on track to serve as TIA President for the 2027–2028 term.
With over 25 years of leadership experience in the tire industry, Schroeder led the Global Commercial Tire Business at Cooper Tire & Rubber Company before taking his current role as COO at Bob Sumerel Tire Co. He has successfully led national and international teams in areas ranging from supply chain and sales to product development and corporate strategy.
Throughout his career, Schroeder has played a pivotal role in steering companies through periods of significant change, including market expansions, mergers and acquisitions, and technological transformation.
