TIA welcomes Nitto as latest supporter of scholarship initiative

With the addition of Nitto, three global tire manufacturers have now stepped forward to invest in the future workforce of the tire and automotive service industry

Bowie, Md. — The Tire Industry Association (TIA), in partnership with the University of the Aftermarket Foundation (UAF), has announced that Nitto has committed $5,000 in support of the Tire Industry Association Scholarship program.

This contribution builds on the scholarship initiative announced in November, when TIA launched the program alongside founding contributions from Bridgestone and Yokohama. With the addition of Nitto, three global tire manufacturers have now stepped forward to invest in the future workforce of the tire and automotive service industry.

The TIA Scholarship program awards $2,500 scholarships to students pursuing careers within the tire and automotive industry. Administered through the University of the Aftermarket Foundation, the program is designed to strengthen the industry pipeline by supporting education.

“We are grateful to Nitto for their commitment to this initiative and for recognizing the importance of investing in the next generation of tire industry professionals,” said TIA CEO Dick Gust. “Their support—along with Bridgestone and Yokohama—demonstrates strong leadership and a shared belief that our industry’s future depends on the people we train today.”

TIA views this growing coalition of supporters as an important step toward expanding the program’s reach and impact and challenges others to invest in the fund to help drive the future of the industry.

“At Nitto Tire, we believe investing in education is an investment in the future of our industry,” said Keiko Brockel, CEO and President of Nitto Tire U.S.A. Inc. “We are proud to support the TIA Scholarship program and help create opportunities for students who will become the next generation of leaders, technicians, and innovators in the tire and automotive service industry.”

Applications for the Tire Industry Scholarship are open through March 31. Eligible students can learn more and apply through the University of the Aftermarket Foundation at https://automotivescholarships.com/scholarships/the-tire-industry-association.
