The session is designed to review surface preparation basics, identify the steps to properly clean the surface, review the role of each undercoat used in the refinish process and some basic steps when painting plastic parts

Leesburg, Va.—The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) is hosting a free webinar for instructors on Monday, July 6, at 4 p.m. EST, entitled “Axalta’s Surface Preparation Process.”

Vehicle refinish begins with a solid base and this is achieved by following a strict surface preparation process in accordance with industry standards. The goal is to deliver maximum corrosion protection while providing the best adhesion between the substrate and the layers in the paint film. This Axalta session will be presented by Gordon Wry, technical instructor, and is designed to review surface preparation basics, identify the steps to properly clean the surface, review the role of each undercoat used in the refinish process and some basic steps when painting plastic parts. The webinar will also review the preparation process of a blend panel.

Attendees will receive a certificate of attendance that can be applied to their 20-hour annual technical update training requirement. Allow up to one week for automatic email delivery of the certificate.
