Fire at Ron’s Body Shop responsible for $1.75 million in damages

Bend Fire & Rescue seeks security video footage from neighboring businesses

Bend, Ore.—Ron’s Body Shop in Bend, Ore., suffered $1.75 million in losses after firefighters fought back high winds and flames late Monday night. The cause of the fire is under investigation as security video from nearby businesses is sought to provide clues.

First-arriving crews found flames coming through the roof of the main building, Bend Fire Deputy Fire Marshal Dan Derlacki said, according to a report from TV news station KTVZ. The body shop’s roof began to collapse soon after fire crews arrived. Firefighters had to evacuate the building for safety.

Battalion Chief Trish Connolly said on Tuesday that the building loss is estimated at $1 million, and the content loss is estimated at $750,000.

The fire was reported shortly before 10 p.m. Ron’s Body Shop is located in the 900 block of Southeast Armour Road.
