OTC introduces 10 GM service tools, expanding coverage to Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC

Uses include preventing leaks by properly aligning when installing crankshaft rear seals, better diagnoses of engine oil system issues, and smoother replacements of engine drive belts

Warren, Mich.—OTC has released 10 new GM service tools, expanding its portfolio of OEM-level products to cover Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC vehicles. Uses for the new collection include preventing leaks by properly aligning when installing crankshaft rear seals, better diagnoses of engine oil system issues, and smoother replacements of engine drive belts. The tools are designed for more efficient repairs to popular GM brands, better equipping technicians to service a wider variety of vehicles that come into their shops.

6725 Belt Tensioner Compressor – Compresses the belt tensioner spring during engine drive belt replacement and starter generator servicing for easier exchanges. For use on 2.4L GM eAssist engines; 2012-2016 LaCrosse, 2011-2014 Malibu and 2012-2017 Buick Regal. Similar to EN-48932.

6739 Quick Connect Release Tool – Separates the 4.8mm (3/16″) hydrocarbon injection quick-connector, allowing access to service of the fuel line bundle and fuel line replacement without removal of unrelated components. It also helps prevent possible damage to the fuel line bundle. For use on 2010-Later GM 2.8L and 6.6L diesel engines. Similar to CH-49736.

6740 Crankshaft Rear Seal Remover – A special 3-jaw puller designed to grab the inner lip of the seal. The forcing screw attached to the center plate is used to react against the crankshaft end to pull the seal out, eliminating damage to the block and crank that prying the seal can cause. For use on 2001-Later 6.6L Duramax diesel engine found in GMT800, 2500HD, 3500, and GMT900, GMC Sierra HD and Chevrolet Silverado HD, 2006-2016 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana. Similar to J-44641.

6741 Crankshaft Rear Seal Installer – A two-piece tool that mounts to the crankshaft, placing force on both inner and outer seal bodies and is designed to press fit the seal properly without misalignment. For use on 2001-Later 6.6L Duramax diesel engine found in GMT800, 2500HD, 3500, and GMT900, GMC Sierra HD and Chevrolet Silverado HD, 2006-2016 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana. Similar to J-44642.

6750 Diesel Fuel Hydrometer – Tests #1 and #2 grade diesel fuel composition and combustion characteristics helping diagnose fuel and drivability issues. The hydrometer measurements are given as an American Petroleum Institute (API) gravity reading when testing diesel fuel composition and combustion characteristics. Fuel is drawn into the hydrometer tube which then floats the internal bulb float. The internal float contains a thermometer that is used to compensate the API reading for the highest accuracy. Instructions are included, with proper measurements noted within (Hydrometer Scale: 30 to 110; Correction Scale: +2.5 to -5.0). For use on all GM 5/16″ EVAP line systems. Similar to J-38641-D.

6756 Injector Seal Installer and Sizer Adapters – Installs the dual seals onto the end of the injector. Seals must be installed into their grooves and then sized to the engineered dimension before the injectors are placed into their bores in the cylinder head. Kit includes two seal installation pilots for each groove, a seal installer driver and a compression sizer. To note, some 2014-Later injectors have larger injector tips which require 6707 Injector Seal Installer Adapters. For use on 2010-Later GM engines 1.4L, 1.5L, 2.0L, 2.4L, 2.5L, 3.0L, 3.6L, 4.3L, 5.3L and 6.2L engines. Similar to EN-49245.

6757 Injector Seal Installer and Sizer Adapters –Installs the Teflon seal onto the end of the injector. The pilot cone is placed onto the end of the injector and the seal is put over it. Then the installer pushes the seal into the groove on the injector tip. The sizer goes over the seal to compress it back to the correct OD to allow installation into the cylinder head. For use on 1998-2014 GM engines with SIDI single seal injectors. Similar to EN-48266.

6777 GM Duramax Injector Puller – Assists in removing injectors from the cylinder head without damaging the injector body. For use on 2011-Later 6.6L Duramax Diesel and Isuzu. Similar to EN-49774.

6787 EVAP Access Port Tool – Connects into the EVAP system line at the canister quick-connect fitting, allowing for EVAP system testing and diagnosis. Use with the OTC 6522 LeakTamer smoke machine to perform flow testing and leak testing based on service information procedures. Suitable for all GM 5/16″ EVAP line systems. Similar to CH-48096.

7297 Oil Pressure and Prelube AdapterInstalls in place of the spin-on oil filter to allow existing oil pressure gauges to attach and test oil system pressure. Can also be used to connect prelube equipment to the engine. For use on 2005-Later GM Gen IV (4) and Gen V (5) engines, 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, and 6.2L. Similar to EN-47971.
