Family-owned, five-location repair business sells to AAA Northern California

Though the purchase price was not made known, the transaction included a $10,000 contribution to the automotive technology program at Santa Rosa Junior College

Walnut Creek, Calif.—Family-owned McLea’s Tire & Automotive Centers and its five shops in Sonoma County have been acquired by AAA Northern California, which now has 12 AAA Auto Repair Centers.

The first shop was opened in 1979 by Bill McLea and was sold by brothers Les and Rick McLea, according to a report in the Press Democrat. Their sons, Darren, Brandon and Reece McLea will join AAA Auto Repair Center in leadership roles.

“Many companies have approached us over the years,” Les McLea said in a prepared statement. “As lifelong AAA Members and with over 20 years in the AAA-approved auto repair program, we know AAA Northern California will continue to put customers and community first.”

Though the purchase price was not made known, the transaction included a AAA Northern California $10,000 contribution to the automotive technology program at Santa Rosa Junior College.
