Ranken’s fall virtual job fair to build off success of spring event for employers and students

Automotive industry employers will have the opportunity to hire the next generation of talent

St. Louis—In view of the coronavirus, Ranken Technical College will hold its annual fall job fair online Thursday, Oct. 15, from 9 a.m.—1 p.m., and 4—8 p.m., through a virtual platform for Ranken students and past graduates. Participants can sign up for one or both sessions.

Automotive mechanical and collision shop owners/managers, parts distributors and manufacturers will attend the fall job fair for the opportunity to hire the next generation of automotive talent.

“The fall job fair is based on the success stories we had of students getting hired as well as the ease in participation from our last job fair,” said Career Services Director Janie Summers, adding that there were 194 companies registered and more than 285 chat conversations last spring. “The event this fall will be video chat only and based on what the employer has chosen, for instance Zoom, Teams, etc. One company told me it was one of the most successful events they ever attended. Businesses are continuing to register.”

To register, companies can visit the Ranken Connection job database at  https://ranken-csm.symplicity.com/

Summers reported last spring that employers said they liked the virtual job fair idea. “They didn’t have to leave their desk in order to participate. Students also appreciated the flexibility in time because some had other employment but were able to connect after regular working hours.”
